The Force is a powerful ally, as anyone who has seen it in action can attest. Its mysticism has only been magnified by those who make use of it on a daily basis; the Jedi, the Sith, the Jensaarai, and others who have learned to master its ebb and flow have become near legends, even in their own times. For as long as life has existed in the Galaxy, the Force has surrounded and bound all beings together in a web of life. Individuals and groups eventually learned how to control it for their own ends, and have been controlled themselves by its ever-present will.
One all-encompassing driving Force influences the destiny of the galaxy. An energy field generated by all living things, the Force surrounds and penetrates everything, binding the galaxy together. Universal balance-life and death, creation and destruction-is reflected in the Force, and thus is reflected in the Force back into the galaxy at large.
The ancient mystics of the galaxy have long studied the omnipresent nature of the Force. These scholars and philosophers discovered that the Force was the essence of the universe's cycle of existence, part of life and death in nature. All things in existence are a part of it, but none so much as living, sapient beings.
The Force has two aspects, one light and one dark. The dark side lurks in the shadows, whispering to Force-users, tempting them with quick and easy access to power. While seemingly stronger, the dark side is only easier. It consists of the destructive impulses of all living beings. Anger, fear, hatred, and aggression are expressions of the dark side.
For most of the history of the Republic, the Jedi were looked upon as defenders and protectors of justice. By their example, belief in the Force was accepted if not always understood. Most beings could not perceive the Force directly; they could only see it manifest in those attuned to it, such as the Jedi.
Even those who don't believe in the Force and aren't particularly attuned to its flow can call upon the Force without understanding exactly what they are doing. When a stroke of amazing luck occurs, or fate seems to be on your side and helps you accomplish a difficult objective, it could be the Force coming to your aid.
All life shines in the Force, very much the way gravity wells in realspace are reflected in hyperspace. A single person not particularly attuned to the Force flickers like a candle in the night, making but the slightest impression in the Force. A Force-user shines more brightly, espacially when manipulating the Force.
This passage will serve as a list of the most known abilities that a user of the Force can hold in the inside or outside of the self, often called 'Force powers'. These Force powers are very specific, for the convenience of everyone. Although powers can be 'stretched', to do tasks that aren't specifically described but seem to be in the 'spirit' of the power. |
